Southwestern silver jewelry
I like this book.I have other books by Paula Baxter, and I new that this one was going to be just as good. I make Indian jewelry and I'm always looking for picture books on the old Indian jewelry and this book is "chuck full of pictures of old jewelry and tools that were used to make the jewelry". The pictures are clear, clean, and big. If you like the way the indian jewelry looked back in the early part of the 1900's this is the book for you. Paula, did a vary nice job and I wish to thank her for this book.

Spilling the Beans: Loteria Chicana
Published in Paperback by Consortium Book Sales & Dist (May, 1995)
Author: Jose Antonio Burciaga
Average review score:

A book worth reading that will give insight on chicanos.
When i opened up the book I had zero expectations because i had never heard of this author. As I started reading I found myself laughing out loud. I nervously looked around to check if anyone was around. Its that kind of book. As a mexican I found I had alot of things in common with many parts of this book. I feel very strongly that all latinos will be able to relate with some or most of this book's content. I really recommend this book to everyone. If you are not a latino or chicano you will be able to enjoy a slice of my culture as well as the culture of chicanos. I would frequently show tidbits of the book to my friends. This book has the right mixture of humor, inside jokes, facts, and deals with some serious issues. A book to be read more than once.

Author: Noel D. Justice
Average review score:

Wow!
This is an essential reference. Noel Justice has done an amazing job of gathering the references and synthesizing a very complex and diverse array of "spear and arrow points" in this volume. I can also recommend "Stone Age Spear and Arrow Points of California and the Great Basin". Well worth the rather high price.

This book is full of cute kids and witty remarks
Susan Goodman is a very creative lady. The way she writes about the long journey of the Hannibal Leap kids is very realistic. When I read this book, I felt like I was on the journey with the children.

Storm on the Desert
Published in School & Library Binding by Harcourt Children's Books (April, 1997)
Authors: Carolyn Lesser and Ted Rand
Average review score:

Storm on the desert
A well-written, well-illustrated book on how the desert experiences rain and the animals who live for the infrequent event of abundant supply of water. I recently read this book to my third grade bilingual(Spanish/English) classroom when we were working on our desert unit. Along with the words and illustrations, I included some music that also corresponded with the movement of the story. At first my students didn't connect, but when the downpour occurred, they instantly related to what was happening. When asked to declare their favorite selection of all of the books we had read in the unit, my students overwhelming selected this book. This is a must-have book for any library!

Author: Wendy Nelson Espeland
Average review score:

Great analysis of serious social problem
This is a wonderfully clear and thoughtful analysis of water politics. It should be read by anyone concerned about how we make decisions about water quality and quantity. The Florida Legislature, which as a group provided a ham handed approach to dealing with the Everglades and Native tribes, should collectively read this book.
